Episode 13 of Code Geass R2 starts where episode 12 left out with Shirley just kind of freaking out. After regaining all her memories, she’s quite obviously confused about what’s true and what’s a lie. She asks Suzaku to meet with her with the intention of telling him about Lelouch. Lelouch runs into the two of them after some Zero-related business.

As this is all happening, Jeremiah, who I will now refer to as Orange-Kun, is running around killing people apparently trying to find Lelouch. Ninja-meido Sayoko has to fight him but due to Orange-Kun’s being a robot or something along those lines, Rolo has to come and save her but then gets himself pinned down as well. While this is going on, elsewhere Cornelia, who’s still rocking her new look, has an encounter with V.V.

Shirley becomes a drama queen and after trying to throw herself off a building finally gets ahold of herself. Suzaku and Lelouch have a gay moment, but Suzaku quickly regains his grumpy face and tells himself not to smile because after all big bad Lulu killed his Euphy. Lelouch leaves to go deal with Orange-Kun, which gives Shirley the chance to talk to Suzaku. She basically kind of urges him to forgive Lelouch before Suzaku instructs some random Brittanian official to protect her while Orange-Kun is out and about. And then Suzaku’s absent for the rest of the episode.

Orange-Kun catches up to Lelouch in front of a rigged train and Lelouch manages to ‘capture’ him by turning his strengths against him. He questions him and learns that Orange-Kun came here to join his side because of his loyalty to Marianne. The two of them then have a slightly-touching gayly smiling/crying moment. This happy moment is then destroyed by Shirley coming back because she wants to be on Lelouch’s side and runs into Rolo.

Rolo starts up his geass, scene change, and then she’s dead. Lelouch, coming back from his little talk with Orange-Kun, finds her. She confesses her love for him as he desperately tries to geass her to live before she finally dies.

If it wasn’t for translated Newtype summaries I read before I watched the episode, I wouldn’t have even guessed Shirley would die. I figured that if Sunrise was going to kill her off it would’ve been at the end of her arc in season one. She definitely wasn’t my favorite character, but I couldn’t help but be affected by the last scene. I used to like her but after her arc came and went she really didn’t interest me until now. I just can’t believe that Rolo was the one to kill her. At least, I’m hoping he wasn’t the one to kill her because I can’t help but want him to be happy. And if he did kill Shirley and his Nii-San finds out, he definitely won’t be happy. I have a weakness for the cute ones, okay?

I know there’s some doubt about Orange-Kun being truthful or not about the whole Marianne thing, but I think that he’s telling the truth. I know it mentioned something about that in one of the picture drama-things, so…

I want Kallen to come back. Where’s the epic Rescue Kallen arc, Sunrise? Just when I start shipping Lulu x Kallen, she’s suddenly out of the picture. It would be pretty sweet if the emperor like geassed her into thinking she was a Brittanian or something, though…

I actually liked this episode a lot because I got some interaction between Suzaku and Lelouch. I’ve been missing the dynamics of their relationships since they haven’t been around each other much since season one. I was very happy to see them together in the preview from last week’s episode and wasn’t disappointed. I’m hoping that those two will become at least somewhat-allies at some point~
Anyways, I know that their writing isn’t exactly the best, but I am addicted to Sunrise’s crazy plot twists and the like. Sunrise, if it doesn’t end up that Miya is actually orchestrating everything and is actually Lulu’s long lost twin sister or something, I’ll be very disappointed.

Oh wow, I totally forgot about Miya as one of the culprits. I see it now: after Orange cancelled her Geass, she found out about Shirley becoming Lulu’s partner and decided to kill her off. It all makes sense now.
