Summary starts behind the cut due to spoilers.
At the start of the episode, a younger Marianne is shown with C.C. while younger Charles looks on with V.V. The two brothers talk for a short while before the scene changes back to where the previous episode ended. As Shirley lies on the floor, now dead, Rolo lightheartedly, and somewhat eagerly, approaches to tell Lelouch that he was the one who killed Shirley because she was a danger. Lelouch is suddenly all back to his normal self and thanks him followed by some gay standing close to each other reminiscent of episode 7.

That’s when Lelouch reveals his intentions to destroy the Order once and for all. Shirley’s burial is held with everyone that’s in the area, including Miya, except for Lelouch. Later Lelouch contacts C.C. and reveals his intentions that he wants to get rid of the Order and Rolo all because of Shirley.

Lelouch manages to surprise V.V. at the order and the Black Knights break in and basically start killing everyone. Scene change to Nunally talking to Kallen and being interrupted because Suzaku wants to ‘borrow her’ for questionable reasons. As the Black Knights massacre the people at the Order, a few question that the people all are unarmed and don’t seem like a threat.

Elsewhere, Diethard is giving orders to Ninja Meido Sayoko to follow Ohgi and at the same time Villeta is heading out to China because she apparently ‘needs him’. In the meantime, the Black Knights are still going about killing innocent people, getting geassed by little kids, and then having Rolo kill the little kids who were so lovingly calling him “Onii-chan”. The battle is taken outside as V.V. joins in with Siegfried the giant orange mech. It appears he’s a pretty awesome pilot since he holds his own against multiple enemies.

Getting back to Suzaku and Kallen, he tells her about Shirley and that the likely candidate is Lelouch. He plans to use refrain to get information from her. Getting back to the fight against V.V., Lelouch intends to explode Rolo’s mech when it’s on Siegfried but instead Cornelia is the one to bring it down. As V.V. lays on the ground injured, Lelouch finds him just to be transported to the Sword of Akasha where he meets his father.

I was hoping that either Rolo didn’t kill Shirley or Lulu wouldn’t find out this quickly so Rolo would stick around for a while but I’m pretty sure he’s signed his death certificate now. Oh Rolo, I really did like you but you kind of brought this on yourself… It still makes me sad that he can’t be happy with his Nii-San…

I know that the funeral scene was meant to be sad with Shirley’s mom being allĀ broken upĀ and stuff but the entire tragic feeling was ruined for me when I noticed Miya in the background. I completely forgot about what was going on because I was just like “It’s Miya~!” She didn’t have any speaking parts, though… Sigh…

V.V. looks a lot less weird and way cuter with his hair down. He could definitely be a delicious trap if he tried… He should’ve infiltrated Ashford Academy as a female student earlier on so the series could’ve had a trap. Sunrise, you missed out on a great opportunity.

This episode seems to be showing that Lelouch is starting to go down a dark path. I mean, I understand he’s upset over Shirley but killing a whole bunch of unarmed people seems a bit much. And Suzaku seems like he’s taking a turn for the worse, too… It makes me a bit sad when I compare their current selves to them at the beginning of the first season.

I actually like this new Lulu. I’ve been waiting a long time to see Lelouch finally crack and start deviating from his “path of justice.” His sister complex in the previous season was absolutely aggravating.
I’m agreeing with you that this side of Lelouch is very out of character.

AN IDEA FOR A CODE GEASS AU OVA:
V.V: THE TRAP OF ASHFORD ACADEMY’S RATHER QUIET DAY.
And I shamelessly stole that off FMP.

The funniest conclusions I’ve read so far elsewhere is in relation to the changing of personalities between Lelouch and Suzaku; when Lelouch deviates from character = Character Development but when Suzaku does it, it’s called hypocrisy. Lawl.

Lulu needs Kallen to complete him, which is why he’s going retarded

dingsan) But I liked his speeches about justice accompanied by dramatic gestures. :c
C.I.) Who cares if you stole that, that’d still be pretty awesome. x3
Shin) lol.
blissmo) Oho. He should realize that… So there can be an epic rescue Kallen episode. : D
